Destructive Forces

January 7th, 2009 · 2 Comments

I love K to death…I really do. She’s smart, friendly, funny, playful, smart and did I say smart? At 7 years old, she reads beyond her years, does “advanced math” (for a 1st grader) and is really rather graceful.

Unfortunately she’s growing, and with that, the gracefulness has temporarily disappeared. I have already mentioned the “Princess Destructo” in a prior post.  Well, this week has been rather difficult:

  • Knocked over a candle holder, shattering it on the floor. She was terrified that we’d be mad, we were terrified she’s step on the glass. Relief was had by all that we weren’t mad and she didn’t cut herself.
  • Slid down a muddy hill while dressed in a brand new dress.  (It was an accident.)
  • and the coup de grace … today while running around playing, she made a quick change of direction and ran straight into a tree, tearing up her chin and cheek. It hurt both physically and emotionally. Being the caring dad, I first took care of her boo boos while I stifled the chuckle as images of George in the Jungle or America’s Funniest Home Videos played in my head.  (She is okay, but we had to talk her into going to school tomorrow, she’s that embarassed.)

We’re sooo hoping she gets out of this phase soon.

most of us “old” parents agree, 25 is about the age that it goes away. Enjoy!
